How do I get my student involved at FCOB?

Belong. Believe. Become.

We are so excited about the chance we have to partner with parents in this amazing task of helping students see the love of God.

Getting connected in the youth ministry at Frederick Church of the Brethren is easy!  We encourage every student to: belong, believe, and become.  Through this intentional process we want to meet your student where they are, but also challenge them to continue to grow in their understanding of truth and how to live it out.  We want to reach out to students, grow them into fully devoted followers of Christ, and then send them into the world to live out the truth in action.  Each student program at FCOB has a unique and important purpose in our ministry to meet this goal.  Our hope and prayer is that we can support and equip you to continue to be the parent God is calling you to be throughout your student’s development in the church.

Your student’s life can be busy!  We are aware that sports, clubs, band, and other activities can easily crowd out what is eternally important.   So we thank you for considering your student’s spiritual as well as emotional and physical well-being.

Sunday Nights

Belonging to something bigger
Sundays 6-8PM

Have you ever had a hard time getting your student to church?  Do you need a way to connect your student to God's truth in a fun and revevant way?  Welcome to Sunday Nights.

As the "open door" to the youth ministry, Sunday Nights engages your student in crazy games, lively skits and dramas, relevant talks about real issues, appropriate video games, and hang-out areas!  At Frederick Church of the Brethren, we want every student to know they are accepted, loved, and that they are a part of something bigger.  In fact, that is the focus of our "Sunday Night" program!

If you want your student connected to other students and a great group of adult leaders, this is the place to start!  Our leaders are trained to make new students feel like they have always been a part of the group! With every Sunday Nights excitement and high-energy, it is sure to connect with your student.

Believing God's Truth
Sunday Mornings @ 9:45 & 11:15AM

Beliefs matter.  They shape how we see the world, and how we interact with it.  Middle and high school are formative years that set a course for what we will believe for the rest of our lives.

At Frederick Church of the Brethren, we are committed to partnering with parents to help shape students’ beliefs and worldview from a solid biblical perspective.  We want students to explore the issues that they are dealing with in the context of biblically-centered discussion groups that focus on practical application in their lives.  We want them to build a faith in Christ that has a true influence on their morals, values and the decisions they make. We do this though our g.groups, which are small groups that happen on Sunday mornings.
Each Sunday morning we offer multiple g.group classes, broken down into grades with gifted teachers.  There is something exciting and meaningful for every student in our Sunday School.

Truth.Action

Becoming a fully-devoted
Quarterly Rally Meetings + team meetings

At some point in your life with Christ you have to take all the truth you have learned and begin to put it into action. At some point you have to stop just reading about the disciples. At some point we have to become a disciple of Jesus.

At Frederick Church of the Brethren, we don't believe that students are the future of the church.  We believe students are called to be the church right now!  Your student can serve in lots of different ways, and nothing is more exciting than seeing a student being the hands and feet of Christ.

Truth.Action is about empowering students to take the truth they have learned and turn it into action. This purpose will be accomplished through:

  • Empowering students in ministry through leadership teams.
  • Teaching students important concepts of biblical leadership.
  • Leading students through the spiritual disciplines.
  • Encouraging student's growth through accountability.

The Bible spells out high standards for leaders in the church, and student leaders are no exception. Students involved in Truth.Action will fill out a brief application, and must make a commitment to leading the kind of lifestyle that a student leader should live. We don't want to call just any student a "leader" of our ministry. That is a big title, and some big expectations come with it. With that said, all students are welcome and encouraged to be part of the leadership team if they are committed to the lifestyle spelled out.
