THE WAITING: Advent from Luke

Advent is the season observed among Christians as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the coming Messiah. Unfortunately, today we don’t recognize the value in waiting. In fact, waiting has become synonymous with wasting time. But Advent can teach us that waiting is, in fact, good. It provides opportunity for God to speak. Opportunity for us to be still and to listen. During the next few weeks, we will spend time “waiting,” as we study the narrative leading to the birth of Christ, as described in Luke’s gospel. May we be challenged through the scriptures to make time for God in prayer and reflection, as we wait for our coming Savior.
